Celtic have confirmed in a statement that yet another player has tested positive for Covid-19 as Rangers’ arch-rivals continue to count the cost of their ill-fated trip to Dubai.

The Parkhead club’s mid-season soiree to the Middle East has ended in tears and anger as Neil Lennon snapped in this week’s press conference and accused the media of “bullying”.

Lennon confirmed that another player – at this point still unnamed – had tested positive for the virus and the club followed suit on their official Twitter account.

“The Club can confirm that following the most recent round of COVID-19 testing, everyone within the playing squad involved last Monday and Saturday have again recorded negative tests,” said Celtic [Twitter].

“The isolating group of 16 people have all recorded negative tests, apart from one player. The player will continue to isolate and we wish him a speedy recovery.

“We can confirm that all other players and management staff have now returned to training.”

This is a lot calmer than Lennon, who let rip at the powers that be, the government and the media in an explosive rant as he counts the cost of his own stupidity by heading East.

First, already crocked Christopher Jullien would test positive before this second player would follow suit during the isolation period.

It proves that Celtic were right to self-isolate, even if Lennon rejects that notion, and even if it has cost them four points in two games.
