Ahead of the clash with Aberdeen on Wednesday night, skipper, James Tavernier, echoed the words of his manager in claiming Rangers could not afford to drop points.
The comments, quoted on the club’s website, ramped up the pressure even more on his teammates.
Yet, it certainly did the trick.
The Gers put in an impressive, committed performance, and emerged victorious.
Once again, the captain played a big role in the win.
On Saturday, he notched a brace in the routine home triumph over St Mirren, despite
causing shock by missing once from the spot.
Against the Dons, he did concede the penalty that got Aberdeen back into the game at 3-2.

However, he had earlier converted another spot kick himself, before setting up Jermain Defoe’s stoppage time clincher.

That last act was a real testament to his fitness.
It was a chaotic match and many players looked out on their feet by the end. Not Tavernier though, who, stepping out from his traditional right-back berth, drove at the Aberdeen defence, before slipping in Defoe.
That was his ninth SPL assist this season, to go alongside nine goals.
Despite many of his goals coming from penalties, that’s a
remarkable number of contributions from a full-back.
Any time Rangers suffer a defeat, he comes in for fierce criticism on social media.
Yet, by the same token, this time around, there was considerable praise from Bears for the Englishman, when he posted a celebratory message.
