Rangers fans have reacted to exciting images from Ibrox with the pitch looking in fine condition and the stands filled with flags ahead of the weekend’s fixture.

St Mirren are the visitors on Sunday afternoon for the first home game of the season as Ibrox plays host to competitive football again for the first time since mid-March.

The ground will look and sound a little different than it did on that evening against Bayer Leverkusen, but plenty of work has been going on behind the scenes to ensure it’s in the best shape possible.

Rangers had real problems with the playing surface over the winter months and took the opportunity to lay a new pitch during the suspension of football.

The staff have been hard at work since then and groundsman, Del Young, posted pictures to Twitter on Friday afternoon to show off the results.

“Weeks of scarifying and work on the pitch starting to pay off,” he wrote. “Just in time for Sunday.”

There’s a massive difference between the beach-like surface that the Gers played Braga on in February and the one they will face St Mirren on and plenty of fans are pleased with the turnaround.

It seems the Rangers staff have also been attempting to decorate the empty stands in anticipation for the upcoming behind-closed-doors fixture, displaying supporters club flags around the ground.

It’s unclear whether or not more flags are to go out ahead of kick-off on Sunday, but some fans have already expressed their support for the work that’s been done so far.
