Rangers fans react to “bombscare” Nikola Katic after St. Johnstone draw

The performance of centre-half Nikola Katic in Rangers’ 2-2 draw with St. Johnstone was described as the worst Kris Boyd has ever seen in a Rangers jersey.

The big defender was at fault for both goals with a real inability to clear the ball gifting the opener to Callum Hendry and his tame defensive clearance from a corner handing it to Stevie May to equalise.

No wonder Kris Boyd let loose on the 22-year-old centre-half in the immediate aftermath of Sky Sports’ coverage of the game.

“If that was once today that that happened, you could say he was unfortunate there,” said Boyd.

“It was three or four times from Nikola Katic today, if he was heading up in the air, if he was kicking it up in the air.

“For me, personally, I struggle to find a worse 90 minutes from a Rangers centre-half, I’m sorry.

“I just thought from start to finish, it wasn’t good enough.”

It’s not just Boyd who’s gunning for the former Slaven Bepulo defender either.

Rangers fans have also been criticising the defender’s nightmare performance as his winner against Celtic at Parkhead now appears pretty far back in the mirror.

It was a truly abject performance by Katic which didn’t even begin and end with his high profile mistakes

The defender was also a frustrating presence on the ball, often slowing the game down every time it went through him and needlessly putting his team under pressure by dallying in posession.
