Rangers’ finishing woes returned last night, as they failed to make their dominance count, against Hibernian.
It wasn’t a problem that could have been foreseen, as Gerrard’s side have been free scoring of late.

They had 15 in their last four outings ahead of last night.
Yet, inexplicably, there was only one instance of composure and quality in the final third.
Daniel Candeias’ 43rd minute goal. Especially for a predominantly right-footed player, it was a superb strike.

Outside of that, countless opportunities went begging.
However, even though the side were wasteful for 90 minutes, one big final opportunity arose in injury time.
After a foul around 25 yards out, Andy Halliday took sole control of the resulting set piece.
He scored an impressive free-kick against Dundee earlier in the season and similar heroics this time around, would have secured all three points for the Gers.

Fine margins
Last night, when he whipped his effort up and over the wall, it looked destined for the top corner.
It wouldn’t dip quite enough, though.
Rather than nestling in the net, it clipped the top of the bar and sailed into the stand.
Even more galling, was that it proved to be virtually the final kick of the game.
The stalwart was inches away from saving his team, but, as with most scenarios last night, it wasn’t to be.
When the Rangers Twitter account posted about the free-kick, it provoked a mixture of resignation and despair from Bears.
