Rangers fans aplenty have been outspoken about Celtic’s Dubai defiance and the club’s supporters were buoyed when another Scottish Premiership club voiced their frustrations.

St. Johnstone were named by Neil Lennon in his explosive Dubai presser when talking about Covid-19 protocols at other clubs and Celtic allegedly being treated unfairly.

Lennon had claimed the Parkhead side were “crammed into a little dressing room” as he slammed inconsistencies in Covid protocols at different clubs.

But the Saints have roared back with a statement of their own as they refuted the “completely unfounded and inaccurate comments”.

“St Johnstone Football Club is extremely disappointed with the completely inaccurate and unfounded comments about our facilities made yesterday by Neil Lennon, the Celtic FC manager, in a media conference,” reads the St. Johnstone statement.

“We provide one of the largest away team changing areas in the league. Every team, including Celtic, is also provided with a large area for team meetings.

“We follow all protocols and guidance to ensure the health and safety of all players, staff and officials.

“When Celtic FC visited McDiarmid Park on October 4 for an SPFL Premiership match, we made sure their every request and requirement was met.

“Celtic viewed all of our facilities before the game and no issues were raised. No issues were raised with us after the game.

“All during this challenging period of the past nine months, our football club has maintained adherence to the highest of standards.

“Indeed, the SPFL delegates have commended us on our work during this campaign.”

The Perthshire Saints aren’t the only ones who’ve responded to the Celtic manager’s comments with Hamilton – whom Celtic claimed has “no social distancing” at their ground – also saying “we are content that we meet the most stringent standards of Covid protocols for all people visiting our stadium” [Glasgow Times].

It’s certainly not been a good week for Neil Lennon and the Celtic side as they sit 21 points behind Rangers with little to no hope of turning the season around.

Here’s how a stunned Rangers support reacted to the Celtic manager’s Dubai comments as he railed against everyone from the media to the First Minister.
