Rangers have kept the same starting XI which earned a point in the 1-1 draw against Young Boys ahead of the club’s Scottish Premiership tie with Motherwell
The Ibrox side know that a win and three points will take them a point ahead of Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership before our rivals play Hibs later on.
It’s the chance to turn up the pressure on our Glasgow rivals as we look to bounce back from the 2-2 draw with Aberdeen in our last Scottish Premiership match.
Steven Gerrard has kept faith in the side which earned Rangers a place in the last 32 on Thursday and it’ll be interesting to see if his team feel any of the effects of playing just three days ago.
It’s also a testament to how serious Steven Gerrard is taking this match against high-flying Motherwell, who pose a decent threat to Rangers given their recent form.
Gerrard is clearly beginning to settle on a consistent enough XI and excluding the likes of injured stars Steven Davis and Filip Helander, there’s an argument that this is our strongest.
Despite that, there has been a mixed response from supporters. Some are happy with the XI, some see a lack of rotation as “concerning” and others are wondering what Greg Stewart has to do to get a game.

Rangers will be aware of the threat posed by Motherwell with the Fir Park side flying high in fourth place in the Scottish Premiership table and that shows in the starting XI.
Manager Stephen Robinson – who was arrested and charged for an incident in Edinburgh on Friday night [Scottish Sun] – has his youthful side playing creative and exciting football.
The last tie between the two sides will also serve as a warning to Rangers. Steven Gerrard’s side was rescued by a last Filip Helander goal in a 2-1 win at Ibrox.
