BBC Scotland pundit Michael Stewart will miss BBC Sportsound tonight after a “change of plans”, just days after being reinstated for defamatory claims made about Rangers’ PR chief Jim Traynor.
The former Hearts midfielder took to Twitter to announce that he won’t be appearing on tonight’s BBC Radio Scotland show.
With more than a hint of sass to the tweet, Stewart clearly feels aggrieved that he’s been left out of the discussion “about the huge weekend of Scottish Cup football we’ve just had”.
Michael Stewart was originally suspended from the BBC for suggesting that allegations of racism against Alfredo Morelos had been manufactured by Traynor.
There have been numerous instances of racist abuse aimed at the striker and the unfounded claims caught the attention of Rangers.
BBC Scotland was forced to apologise for the incident [Herald Scotland].
Stewart’s conspiratorial rant also had no basis in fact, and many believe this had a contribution to a vicious assault which took place against Traynor the following weekend.
This includes shareholders Club 1872, who told supporters that “under its current leadership” BBC Scotland has no intention of evolving its narrative against Rangers.

They claim that the BBC reinstating Michael Stewart despite the comments and without an apology is further evidence of this.
Something has clearly happened behind the scenes which has prevented Stewart from taking to the mic this week.
However, the Glasgow Times believe this won’t affect his appearance on Sportsound during live match coverage come Wednesday.
