Rangers are in negotiations over another contract extension for talismanic striker Alfredo Morelos, according to reports [Daily Record].

It’s being claimed that Rangers are interested in tying down their star forward on a longer-term deal in what would be his third extension in only two seasons.

Alfredo’s importance to this Rangers side cannot be understated and his 29 goals this season are a testament to his value to Steven Gerrard.

Talk of a new contract would secure the Rangers striker for a term beyond 2023 when his current deal is set to expire.

It would also see Alfredo rewarded for his consistent goalscoring performances and be a statement of commitment to the Ibrox club amid much transfer talk.

Rangers are said to value the striker at over £20m with chairman Dave King saying the club would’ve refused an offer upwards of £40m [Scottish Sun] had one came in during January.

With the club’s title charge unravelling before the eyes of supporters, much of that now seems like hot air but Morelos is a player the club will be hoping to cash in on when he eventually leaves Glasgow.

Some Rangers fans have been reacting on Twitter to the news that the club are looking to tie the 23-year-old forward down for the foreseeable future:
