On Friday morning, Rangers announced that manager, Steven Gerrard, has signed a two-year contract extension.
The 39-year-old penned a four-year deal in May 2018, but following this extension is now tied to the club until 2024. The rest of the coaching staff, including Assistant Manager, Gary McAllister, have also signed new deals.
βIβm delighted to be extending my stay at this fantastic football club,β Gerrard told Rangers.co.uk.
βWhen Dave King approached me about the possibility of extending my contract with Rangers, it was a very easy decision to make because Iβm very happy and feel that we are building something special together at the Club.
βIβd like to thank the Board for the backing they have given me already in my time at the Club and also most importantly, the Rangers fans who have given me and the team such tremendous backing both this season and last.β
Gerrard may be yet to secure his first trophy as Rangers boss, but the club has come on leaps and bounds since his arrival.
Heβs received significant backing in the transfer market, but the Gers are now genuinely competing on all fronts and just last night, made the knockout stages of the Europa League at the expense of Feyenoord and Young Boys.
Things are undoubtedly moving in the right direction, and securing the continued presence of Gerrard and his staff for the foreseeable future, is a great move.
Understandably, then, the news has gone down extremely well on social media with fans rejoicing.
