Rangers fans react as Celtic board confirm Lennon will take team to Ibrox

Rangers fans have been reacting to the news that the Celtic board are backing Neil Lennon for the upcoming Old Firm despite a dismal run of two wins in twelve games.

Our out-of-sorts Old Firm rivals are set to travel to Ibrox on January 2nd with Lennon’s job officially safe until the new year.

So far Rangers have been withstanding the pressure test of this season considerably better than Celtic, who find themselves 13 points behind Steven Gerrard’s side in the league race.

Neil Lennon has also overseen a Betfred Cup exit to the hands of Ross County, whilst our Old Firm rivals have also crashed out of the Champions League qualifiers and Europa League this season.

This has also all happened against the backdrop of a rampant Rangers side who are unbeaten in 25 games, who have only conceded three times in the league and who are already through to the next round of the Europa League.

With two games in hand in the league – which could cut Rangers’ lead to 7 points – and three Old Firm derbies to play, the Celtic board are backing their man for the time being at least.

“The Board of Celtic Football Club wishes to make clear its continuing support for Neil and his backroom team,” reads the statement [Celtic FC].

“Whilst it has been suggested that it is time for a change, at this stage in the season the Board believes that Neil and his management team are best placed to turn the team’s performances around and lead us on to success.

“The Board continues to work closely with Neil and his team to support them as they seek to do so and progress will be reviewed in the new year.”

Here’s how members of the Rangers support reacted to the news that Celtic are backing their man to take a team to Govan despite the contrasting fortunes in Glasgow:

Rangers fans might be excited about the club’s prospects this season but they certainly won’t be getting carried away before the club’s hands are on an historic 55th league title.

With speculation persisting about the future of Neil Lennon this season, the Ibrox support have also been reacting in hilarious uproar to one replacement being sounded out by rival fans.
