Rangers fans have responded in their droves after Alfredo Morelos sent a clear message to his critics on Twitter.

Morelos dominated the headlines on Wednesday night after escaping a red card for an alleged stamp on Hibernian centre-back Ryan Porteous before going on to score the winner in a 1-0 victory at Easter Road.

It was the Colombian international’s seventh goal in nine career appearances against the Hibees and the three points in the capital ensured that the Gers maintained their massive 23-point lead at the top of the Premiership table.

Morelos has been lambasted by rival fans and pundits since the incident with Porteous, but taking to Twitter on Thursday evening, he sent a clear message to his critics.

He tweeted a picture of himself making a ‘shush’ sign taken during his celebration and captioned it with the buffalo and football emojis.

The post has been lapped up by Rangers fans and at the time of writing, had already racked up over 5000 likes.

Here’s a selection of reactions from supporters:

Morelos’ latest Easter Road strike moved him to eleven goals for the season in all competitions, while he’s also bagged five assists.

It’s a long way off the 28 goals he had managed by this time last season, but he has made some big contributions in recent weeks, with his high-quality brace at Aberdeen also proving decisive in that game.

He’ll no doubt be hoping to push on over the coming weeks and to end his Ibrox goal drought as the Gers look to wrap up their 55th top-flight title in comfortable fashion.
