Rangers fans have reacted with rage after a planned Union Bears tifo for today’s League Cup final at Hampden Park was cancelled.

The fan group released a statement on Twitter on Saturday evening, criticising the head of security at Hampden for his ‘awkwardness’ in negotiations surrounding a display.

“We were unable to come to a workable arrangement which has led to the tifo being cancelled,” read the statement.

“Brian Muir is one of many people within Scotland who is seeking to destroy both visual and vocal atmosphere inside football stadiums with his ex-police tactics and dictator agenda.”

The release came to a conclusion with a plea to all Gers supporters attending the game to get behind the team – “let your voices be heard for 90 minutes!”

No details were provided with regards to the content of the tifo, but we’ve seen some creative work from the Union Bears in the recent past, including the ‘We Fear No Foe’ display for the Europa League clash against Porto.

If something similarly spectacular was planned for this massive game, it’s disappointing that it will no longer go ahead, especially as it may have given the players a lift ahead of kick-off.

Here’s a selection of reactions to the news from Twitter:

Let’s hope that despite this setback, Bears will be in full voice at the national stadium and will spur the players onto a trophy win.
