St Joseph’s FC have reached out to Rangers following their Europa League Preliminary Qualifying Round success.
The Saints defeated Prishtina 3-1 on aggregate to set up a big tie against the Gers. The first leg is likely to take place on Tuesday.
This is pretty much unchartered territory for the Gibraltarians.
A small club operating out of the 2000 capacity Victoria Stadium, they finished third in the league last season [Soccerway]. They were a full eleven points behind Lincoln Red Imps, the side that embarrassed Celtic back in 2016.

What’s more, they have little to no pedigree in Europe.
Their best effort to date came two seasons back when they gained entry to Europa League QR1. It didn’t end well that time around though, as they were defeated 10-0 over two legs by Cypriot side, AEL Limassol.
That lack of pedigree and subsequent minnow status, means its a huge two weeks coming up for St Joseph’s.
The club, who have less than 2000 followers on Twitter, took to the platform to engage with the Gers ahead of next week’s first leg.
The Rangers account was quick to respond.
Then, later on Tuesday evening, the Gers’ opponents tweeted a photo of their squad celebrating in their changing rooms, with the lyrics of a very familiar, if slightly altered song attached.
The initial tweet in particular brought responses from plenty of Rangers fans. Some were congratulatory, but many warned St Joseph’s to prepare themselves for what is coming both on and off the pitch next week.
