Rangers fans have raved about Jamie Murphy on social media after the winger scored once and set another goal up in just his second start for Burton Albion.

The 30-year-old loanee left Ibrox last week in search of playing time, joining up with his former Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough at the Pirelli Stadium.

He had made just two competitive appearances over the first half of the season under Steven Gerrard, but has since made two in a matter of days for the Brewers.

If the early signs are anything to go by, it’s set to be a very positive loan stint, too.

After his debut against Accrington Stanley, he was praised by teammate, John Brayford, for showing ‘flashes’ of brilliance [Derbyshire Live].

He stepped his game up on Tuesday evening, though, setting up the first goal and then scoring the second in a 2-2 draw at AFC Wimbledon.

Full of running from the off, in the 7th minute, he dropped his shoulder to skip past his opposite man before drilling a low cross into the area, which eventually found its way to Joe Powell to finish.

Then, just a few minutes before the interval, he showed superb reactions to get his head to a wayward Conor Shaughnessy effort, and divert the ball up and over the home side’s keeper.

Albion couldn’t hold onto their lead and Murphy didn’t last the full 90, as he was substituted with ten minutes remaining.

However, Bears were impressed with what they saw, and when he posted on social media to mark his first goal since July 2018, he received plenty of praise.

Here’s a selection of reactions:
