Tuesday morning’s big transfer report hasn’t gone down well on social media.
The Belfast Telegraph claims that Rangers are ‘in talks’ to sign Josh Magennis. The 28-year-old forward is currently at Bolton Wanderers, but they are experiencing considerable financial difficulties.
We know Rangers love a free transfer these days.
The club recently picked up the likes of Steven Davis and
However, while an international teammate of both those players with Northern Ireland, Magennis isn’t of the same quality.
He’s capable of making an impact off the bench. By netting consecutive Euro 2020 Qualifying winners against Belarus and Estonia, he proved that.
Yet, his main attributes are his physicality and work-rate. He only mustered four goals in over 40 appearances in the Championship last season [WhoScored] and 18 in over 70 SPL games for former club Kilmarnock [Soccerbase].
You need more quality to make it at Ibrox, particularly now the club is finally back with a realistic chance of the SPL title.
Therefore, plenty of Rangers fans have raged at the suggestion of signing the 6ft 2″ target man.
Here’s a selection of publishable reactions to the transfer report:
Iam all for giving players a fair crack of the whip. But the thought of Josh Magennis signing fills me with as much joy as toothache.

Surely to god there are better strikers than Josh Magennis on Rangers' radar 🙈 We are not swapping Morelos for him 🙁

Josh Magennis would be a class signing 5 years ago

Gerrard said himself that we will be targeting proven quality players that will improve on what we already have and guys like Greg Stewart and Josh magennis aren't that type of player

Very underwhelmed by this, 1st Greg Stewart & Now Josh Magennis. Dreadful signing to say the least.
