Rangers have responded to recent refereeing controversies with a short statement – and some of the club’s fans are not happy about it.
In comments released to the Press Association, the club said:
Fans have taken to the internet to voice their displeasure.

These Rangers supporters are clearly frustrated. It’s not the fact that Alfredo Morelos’ appeal was rejected, or that Allan McGregor’s two-match ban for retrospective punishment was upheld.
It’s the fact that certain incidents and certain teams are treated so differently by the SFA.
How Alan Power’s high boot escaped retrospective punishment is almost laughable.
There are also the recent incidents involving three Celtic players against Hibs. These were deliberately edited out of an Official TV highlights package. That alone shows that there was a case. These were on the same night as the Morelos and McGregor incidents.
Rangers were also reprimanded by the SFA for their statement against refereeing standards after the Daniel Candeias “kissesgate” earlier in the season. Celtic released a similarly accusatory statement after Rangers embarrassed them in December and not a thing was said.

Whilst the club has demanded a review as a “matter of extreme urgency”, some fans wanted Rangers to come out all guns blazing.
Refereeing controversies happen, but it’s about how they’re dealt with. This is not about special treatment. It’s about equal treatment.
And it is very clear that a lack of consistency in decision making and the preferential treatment of certain clubs and individuals is preventing this from happening.
