Rangers fans rage at club for failure to recognise Lee Wallace departure

On Tuesday evening, former Gers star DaMarcus Beasley, announced he is set to retire from professional football.
The ex-USA international made the announcement via Twitter with his 37th birthday just around the corner.

Beasley has certainly experienced a full career. He earned 126 international caps, and played club football in Holland, Germany, Mexico and the UK, before eventually returning to the US.
He’s been at Houston Dynamo since 2014, and will hang up his boots there at the conclusion of the season.
During a three-year stint at Rangers, he experienced plenty of success. Six major trophies in all, including two league titles.
Therefore, it’s no suprise that the club tweeted to recognise his efforts, after the news broke.

However, a number of fans took umbrage at Rangers’ post, due to the radio silence around a club stalwart’s exit.
Lee Wallace’s Ibrox departure is imminent, yet he has received no official send-off.
That’s despite Wallace’s wife, Stephanie, posting a heartfelt goodbye message on Twitter on Monday morning.

The 31-year-old is the Ger’s longest serving player, having arrived from Hearts in 2011. He captained the club for several years, staying during the dark times of the Scottish fourth tier and playing a big role in getting the Gers back to where they belong.
Here’s a selection of the indignant reactions of Rangers fans to the lack of farewell message:

Surely it’s a matter of time before the club posts something official on Wallace, though.
His contract is more likely to expire in early June than in May. Therefore, perhaps they’re holding off until then before commenting.
Others like Joe Worrall and Gareth McAuley, who we know are also leaving the club, haven’t yet received a mention either. Time will tell, but it would be a huge shock if the club let Wallace leave officially, without acknowledging his efforts.
