The eyes of the footballing world were glued to Wembley on Sunday night for the final of Euro 2020 and a pair of Rangers fans were in the stands representing the club.

The famous stadium was rocking for the much-anticipated clash between England and Italy.

The English had had the kinder passage to the final and had home advantage on their side once again, with Italy fans officially making up less than 10% of the 67,173 attendance.

The remainder of the crowd weren’t all England fans, though, with a few neutrals managing to land tickets.

A flag gave away the presence of at least one Scotland fan behind the goal the Italians were shooting towards in the second half and two proud bluenoses also made it into the ground.

During the first half, popular fan account @blueheart1872 tweeted a photo taken before kick-off of two Rangers fans posing in the front row of a stand with a ‘Lochgilphead Loyal’ Union Jack.

One of the two Gers fans from the small town in Argyll and Bute also appears to be wearing the club’s new 150th anniversary year home shirt.

“Lochgilphead Loyal at Wembley tonight,” reads the tweet. “Well done lads. We are everywhere.”

Of course, it was the Azzurri who triumphed in the end, winning 3-2 on penalties after Leonardo Bonucci’s second-half goal had cancelled out Luke Shaw’s brilliant early opener.

It’s somewhat ironic that a pair of Rangers fans were inside Wembley on Sunday when none have watched their team in action at Ibrox since March 2020.

That’s finally set to change on Saturday when Arsenal visit for an exciting pre-season friendly, but the exact number of supporters to be allowed through the turnstiles is yet to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, Rangers have congratulated a proud bluenose for an outstanding sporting achievement.
