Rangers fans had to check the clock as the club announced a new contract for legendary goalkeeper Allan McGregor on April the 1st.
April Fool’s Day regularly catches a few people out with a range of businesses from a range of industries catching out fans and consumers alike on the fabled day.
The most important thing is that April Fools are only supposed to be conducted before 12pm and any later then the joke is on the joker.
Thankfully, Rangers announced McGregor’s long awaited contract appointment at 12:30pm, meaning that any threat of the Gers pulling the leg of the support quickly disintegrated.
McGregor’s new deal extends his career at Ibrox by another season and will take him into his 40s by the end of season 21/22.
A legend to supporters, the club’s fans sarcastically made reference to April Fool’s Day and sent tributes to the Ibrox keeper who signs on for one more year at Ibrox:

McGregor spoke to Rangers after signing the contract claiming he didn’t need convincing and that Ibrox is very much “home” to the stopper.
“I didn’t really need convincing. It was more that my body felt okay and performances seemed okay, so why not?” said McGregor [Rangers].
“You get to love the place and you feel like it is your home.
“You know everybody that works here – not that I didn’t at other places – but I just feel like it is my home and there is no other way to describe it.”

McGregor isn’t the only Ibrox veteran to sign a new contract in recent weeks as the club celebrate a legendary 55th title and look ahead to next season.
This influential Ibrox star is already planning for the riches of the Champions League as he puts to pen to paper on a new deal at Rangers.
