Sunday afternoon’s last-gasp victory against Kilmarnock brought a huge early-season confidence boost for Rangers.
You can’t win the league in August, but you can certainly lose it and if Gerrard’s men had dropped points again at Rugby Park, they would have put themselves under enormous pressure from the start.
Consequently, there was an outpouring of relief on social media following Connor Goldson’s injury-time winner.

The big centre-back was widely praised, while Jordan Jones’ epic Twitter post also attracted plenty of attention.

While it was Goldson who found the net, James Tavernier’s contributions were also hugely important to the win. He drove his team up the pitch in the closing stages and both goals resulted from his wicked out swinging corners.

Therefore, when he posted on social media to mark the victory, with a pair of photos with the caption ‘what a feeling’, many Bears reacted. There was high praise aplenty, with some fans taking the opportunity to ask the skipper to stay at the club.

With the transfer window closing for sides in the top two tiers of English football on Thursday, though, it’s hoped that no move will materialise.
