Rangers fans have praised a prominent Scottish journalist for a story on the mistreatment of Alfredo Morelos on the pitch and from the stands in Scotland.
Journalist Neil Cameron wrote a feature on Alfredo Morelos potentially giving the “get it up ye” to Scottish football given the treatment he receives.
Writing for the Herald, the critical piece praises the young Colombian striker whilst asking the question of rival fans who have turned Morelos into a pantomime villain.
In the piece, Cameron explores various themes surrounding the striker after the fall-out from Sunday’s red card for celebrating the second goal in a 2-0 win over Motherwell.
Cameron criticises the Scottish FA for upholding the red card against Morelos and the supporters whose behaviour towards the Rangers striker leaves a lot to be desired.
Describing Morelos as a “serial victim”, Cameron bemoans the negativity and makes his position clear on the red card.
“If I were in charge of Scottish football, which sadly is not the case,” says Cameron, “I would rescind the red card and force those Motherwell supporters so brave with their actions at the weekend to face up to Morelos.”
