Rangers fans praise James Tavernier after Europa League win

On Tuesday evening, Rangers kickstarted their Europa League qualifying campaign with victory over St Joseph’s in Gibraltar.
Gerrard’s men found things tricky in the first half and headed into the break at 0-0. However, the floodgates opened in the second period and they eventually recorded a convincing 4-0 win.

The Gers headed into the fixture as overwhelming favourites and were always going to have a lot of the ball. That suited skipper, James Tavernier, who loves to get forward from right-back.
The 27-year-old was outstanding last season. Not only did he improve his defensive game and register heaps of goals and assists, but he showed remarkable durability and commitment. Tav turned out in 57 of his side’s 60 fixtures in all competitions.

He looks fit and raring to go once again and put in a typically strong showing in this first outing.

Tav provides a driving force down the right side and his partnership with Sheyi Ojo has huge potential.
With a typically quality delivery into the box for Alfredo Morelos, he bagged his first assist of the season for Rangers’ fourth goal, too.
Tavernier is still questioned by sections of the Rangers support, but it seems the majority now recognise his importance to this side.
He posted on Twitter after the match to celebrate the result and to wish the fans a safe home.
