The introduction of Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo in Thursday’s European victory over Braga was one of the Europa League game’s biggest turning points.
The London born Nigerian international midfielder scored the all-important equalising goal and was a positive, dynamic option as soon as he was introduced.
Finishing in an unconventional left-back berth, his stunning solo strike to make it 2-2 will live long in the memory of Rangers fans.
Aribo’s stunning performance against Braga earned him the plaudits of Rangers boss Steven Gerrard in the immediate aftermath of the game.
Addressing the press after the club’s stunning comeback victory, Gerrard waxed lyrical about the role Aribo had played in the victory [RangersTV].
Claiming the midfielder epitomised everything Rangers were about tonight, Gerrard said that he “loved” everything about the former Charlton youngster on the night.
Gerrard wasn’t the only one singing Aribo’s praises after the match either.
Match-winning teammate Ianis Hagi praised the Nigerian as a “special” player [RangersTV] as the duo addressed the press after the game.
