Rangers midfielder Bongani Zungu was handed his full Gers debut as the club defeated Falkirk 4-0 at the Falkirk Stadium.

The Rangers fans have been hotly anticipating the inclusion South African international midfielder in a starting berth but had doubts Zungu would make the squad after an injury picked up on international duty.

But against the Bairns, Rangers’ deadline day signing made his first start for the club as Rangers efficiently churned out a 4-0 victory against the League One side.

The midfielder was employed in a deep-lying role for Rangers and once again caught the eye with those raking, arrowed passes out to the flanks.

There were a few times Zungu overplayed passes – a sign that the midfielder was probably eager to impress – but overall, this was a composed, understated performance from the classy midfielder.

There will be tougher tests for Zungu to come as he tries to win a permanent deal at Rangers, the club reportedly needing to pay £2.7m if they want to make the move permanent in the summer.

Here’s how Rangers fans reacted to Zungu’s performance as they got an extended glimpse of their man for the first time this season:

Zungu was eventually replaced in the 70th minute for fringe man Greg Stewart as the forward looked to grab his 20-minute opportunity in Falkirk.

Rangers also handed first-team debuts to two youngsters in the match with Steven Gerrard praising their contribution in the post-match.
