Rangers defender Nikola Katic will be missing turning out for the Ibrox club almost as much as the fans are missing the big Croatian stopper.

Katic, 23, is an immensely popular figure at Ibrox and there are high hopes for the Croatian’s future with Rangers.

But unfortunately, the big stopper was ruled out for the rest of 2020 due to rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in an injury which is widely regarded as amongst the worst in sports.

Now, the big defender has been pictured in training looking particularly buff as he looks forward to making his return from injury.

Katic has visibly bulked up from his early days at Ibrox and looks a much bigger and stronger version of the centre-back which arrived from Slaven Bepulo for a reported £1.5m in 2018.

Rangers fans have been taking to Twitter to comment on the defender’s progress as they look forward to the fans’ favourite making his return for the club.

Katic himself has previously spoken about being optimistic that he can return before the New Year with these images of him back on the pitch certainly a good sign.

“There was a rupture of my anterior cruciate ligament and it’s estimated I should be back by the New Year, so we’ll see how recovery goes,” Katic told Croatian media, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.

“I was in surgery last week and I have already started light rehabilitation.

“It’s possible the injury happened because of the extent of the break we had, but we will never know.

“It’s certainly not the same training at home, as with the team.

“I think the long break created problems and if you look at Germany for example, we saw there were many injuries after the first game back there.”
