On Sunday afternoon, Nikola Katic made his first league start since October, as Rangers took on Motherwell at Fir Park.
The 23-year-old centre-back has spent plenty of time watching on from the bench recently. However, an injury to Filip Helander has given him an opening and he’s determined to take advantage.
That determination shone through on 27 minutes, as despite being tugged at by his marker, he got himself on the end of typically top-quality Borna Barisic corner and powered a header into the net.
Breaking the first-half deadlock, it was an extremely important contribution, from which the Gers kicked on to put the game to bed after the break.

Overall, the Croatian defender delivered a strong performance in what was the first of several tough away assignments this month.
He made an early error which led to a big chance for the hosts, but the impressively taken goal settled him down and he looked relatively assured thereafter, helping to register a clean sheet.
Injury to Helander has given him a big chance to impress, and so far, he’s taking it.
