A turgid 90 minutes in Glasgow might’ve been settled by two Rangers goals against a stubborn Stranraer, but it was young Nathan Patterson who stole the show at Ibrox.

Given the nod for his first start and first appearance in a Rangers shirt proper, his inclusion turned heads at the beginning of the game.

But in a bit of a damp squib, Patterson’s inclusion and performance lit up what was an otherwise dreary affair.

The Rangers youngster was always an option and an energetic presence down the right-hand side, receiving the ball, driving at the defence and using it well.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

Patterson was unlucky not to lay on a goal during the first-half and his range of crossing was particularly impressive.

He was also unlucky not to open his Rangers account in the second with his effort tipped over the bar by the Stranraer goalkeeper.

It was a solid introduction to the Rangers first team and a solid showing which has Rangers fans desperate for more.

The club’s supporters love to see one of their own come through and make the grade at Ibrox and there’s now real hope Nathan Patterson can be the latest name to make the grade at Rangers.

Here’s how some of the club’s supporters reacted to the 18-year-old’s performance on Twitter even jokingly earning comparisons to 118 cap Brazil and Barcelona legend Dani Alves:

Patterson wasn’t the only Rangers youngster to make his debut in the 2-0 win over Stranraer with Kai Kennedy also coming off the bench to get his first minutes for the Gers.

With Rangers captain James Tavernier also set for a spell on the side lines [Rangers], will this be the last we see the youngster in the coming weeks?
