Steven Davis was at the centre of a major talking point during yesterday’s 4-0 win over St Johnstone.
With the score poised at 2-0 to the Gers with just a few minutes remaining, the midfielder pulled off consecutive dramatic goalline clearances.

Firstly, he got himself in the way of a powerfully struck shot, before recovering to backheel away a second net-bound effort.
The Gers then went the length of the pitch and Jermain Defoe tucked away a finish to put the result beyond any doubt.
On first viewing, the second clearance looked dubious. As Steven Gerrard admitted after the match, the first view provided by BT Sport gave the impression the ball had crossed the line [RangersTV].
However, closer inspection revealed that the veteran had got there just in time. Despite the calls of the McDiarmid Park faithful and the Saint players, the officials had got the call correct and Davis had pulled off the miraculous.
Given that the Gers went on to score just seconds later, he essentially initiated a two-goal swing with his efforts.

Rangers fans lap up Davis clearance footage
On Monday, the Rangers media team wasted no time uploading a gif of the incident onto Twitter and the clearances look even better in slow motion. What’s more, it’s damning evidence for all those who claimed the Saints should have been awarded a goal.
