On a day where it seemed like half of Scotland was melting down over Rangers and the impromptu fan party in George Square, up step Celtic with the biggest meltdown of the day.

The Parkhead club have watched on in agony as Rangers have not only ripped the crown from atop their head, reclaimed the city, and took about four or five steps in front of them in the process, they’ve also forced their social media team into the most infantile reaction of the day.

Rangers’ title win was always going to have some kind of repercussion like this – two fans could’ve spilled a glass of champagne and it’d be on the national news – but this is beyond our wildest dreams.

The club which ate jelly and ice cream, the fans who hung out the flag of war, the unstoppable force, reduced to wallowing in their own tears and sevcoing their way back into fan hearts.

Not to mention the staggering unprofessionalism of such a childish retort – was this tweet by a 14-year-old?

The tweet seemingly responds to Rangers chairman Douglas Park’s claims Celtic are the “other half of the Old Firm”[Peter Smith] as the Ibrox club railed against “inaccurate” claims made by politicians regarding the club’s attempts to tackle the potential for gatherings.

Rangers fans naturally could not get enough of this very public, very salty, very 2012 meltdown from the official Celtic communication channel as the party continued online:

The meltdown continues and it really hasn’t failed to disappoint with Rangers fans applauding the club for standing up for them amid much of the coverage.

Ibrox chairman Douglas Park was applauded by supporters for railing against “inaccurate” claims made in the media by politicians.
