Yet another international break, yet another opportunity for the media to fawn wildly over one of Rangers’ main rivals U21 achievements.
Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard might be 23, but he continues to be called up for the French U21s and followed up penalty in their last match with another goal in their latest game.
Edouard netted the second strike in France U21’s 2-0 win over Iceland U21, spawning scrawls of indulgent coverage from journalists across Scotland.
Now, no-one is saying that scoring a goal for your country at any level isn’t a major achievement but given the coverage you’d be forgiven for thinking he’s guided France to the World Cup Final.
The goal makes Edouard the French U21s most prolific striker with the forward now netting 15 goals at that level across his extended youth career.
But the Scottish press reaction has given Rangers fans – who have previously criticised the coverage from some quarters of Morelos’ performances with the Colombia senior team – a continuing laugh.
The Ibrox club’s fans took to Twitter to sarcastically goad the rival Celtic striker who is reportedly on the verge of a Parkhead exit this summer:

The whole Edouard thing still playing for the U21s at 23 is funny but could you imagine the slagging Morelos would take if he was doing this at 23 for Colombia U21s. He would be mocked for it constantly.

Whilst Rangers fans might be laughing at the media coverage there’s no doubt that Odsonne Edouard is a good player and the Ibrox club could be boosted by transfer news surrounding the Frenchman.
With just over a year remaining on his deal, reports are suggesting he could be set to link-up with one of his former managers in a reported £15m move this summer.
