Rangers fans in stitches as ex-Celtic star dons “tinfoil hat” with ref claim

As Rangers dominated Celtic and booked a place in the Scottish Cup semi-final, one ex-Celtic star stood-out for his salty coverage of the match.

For years Chris Sutton has taken every opportunity to dig the Ibrox side and especially loves a conspiracy when it comes to the Gers.

Sutton was suitably silenced throughout the match and tended to pick and choose his words wisely during Premier Sports’ coverage but he could not hold back the bitterness as the game went on.

Even pre match he had claimed that “normal service” was about to be resumed. At least he got something right.

The stand-out comment from Sutton had to be the “it’s not like Rangers not to get a penalty” effort after Greg Taylor appeared to trap Joe Aribo’s arm as the ball flashed across the box.

That’s despite Celtic getting a penalty which Allan McGregor saved in the match.

Sutton is one of so many broadcasters, pundits and journalists who – in their indulgent pomp – refused to recognise the progress of Rangers and set Celtic up for almighty fail.

Seeing him, Gordan Strachan and every single Celtic fan scramble for excuses post-match is a thing of beauty but the ex-Parkhead striker drew particular gluttony from the Gers fans.

Plenty took to Twitter in the aftermath of the game to turn the screw on Sutton who was audibly frustrated with his side’s shortcomings:

Rangers fans certainly enjoyed the domination over Celtic this afternoon but the fans aren’t the only ones turning the screw on the Parkhead club.

The club themselves have taken aim at the hapless Parkhead side with a series of post-match blows aim at Glasgow’s eastenders.
