It’s fair to say that Scott Arfield is popular amongst Rangers supporters.
The midfielder joined Gerrard’s revolution on a free transfer in May, making an immediate impact in the early stages of the season.
He has been a near ever present when fit, scoring five times and registering four assists in the league.

However, a recent suspension, followed by a niggle picked up at Hibernian, has seen him miss most of December.
As the old saying goes, you quickly become a better player when you’re out of the team.
Therefore, there was a particular pre-match buzz on Saturday when his return was confirmed.

Yet, far from disappointing, he undoubtedly increased his stock amongst Rangers fans.

The Canada international battled from the first whistle until his substitution in injury time.
What’s more, he dominated Scott Brown throughout the match. It was that factor in particular, which earned him a standing ovation as he left the field at Ibrox.

Judging by the reaction to his New Year’s message on Twitter, few have forgotten his stand out performance.

In all, there were nearly 600 comments from Bears. Most of which, referenced his domination of the Celtic captain.
Given his performance level at the weekend, Arfield will be a key player during the second half of the season.
Rangers need this man on the pitch and firing, if they are to eventually bring home silverware.
