Lee Wallace’s comeback was just a side-issue considering the form of Alfredo Morelos this afternoon.
Another brace from Rangers’ number one striker took him to 19 for the season. It kept Rangers within touching distance of Celtic at just two points heading into a huge week.
Yet whilst the 2-1 win at St Johnstone was a huge plus-point for Rangers, the return of Wallace was as intriguing as the result was huge. As Borna Barisic get set for yet another spell on the sidelines, Wallace could have a big part to play.
We all know the big week ahead that Scottish football, and Rangers in particular, is about to have. And Gerrard could be forced into selecting Wallace for the crucial fixtures ahead.
Rangers fans have today taken to Twitter to voice their appreciation for Wallace, and look forward to the games ahead.
Special mention to Lee Wallace coming in and being 100% better than Flanagan at left back, 😂

Welcome back Lee Wallace. Unfortunate about the circumstances but better than Halliday or Flanagan

Must admit it was good to see lee Wallace back in a rangers kit today. If Borna is injured I’d start Wallace. I don’t think he did much wrong today when he came on after so long out.

Opportunity comes knocking for Wallace
Supporter sympathy with Wallace has clearly improved over the last few months. Many were angry with he and Kenny Miller’s actions when the club suspended and fined them last season. This was due to an altercation in the dressing room in a defeat to Celtic.
Since then, however, Graeme Murty, who was the manager at the time, has left that role. Wallace, as ever, has remained a loyal servant to the club as he longs for the previous standards to be brought back to Ibrox.
Unfortunately for Wallace, player signings and new managers have seen him slowly but surely lose his place in the squad. Incredibly, however, a combination of unsuccessful experiments (Flanagan at left-back) and Barasic’s injury, he’s set to be given his big chance once again.
For Wallace, the cards are stacked in his favour. The Gers supporters are right behind him, and he’ll be given a chance to impress.
Question marks still hover regarding Wallace’s match-fitness. It’s fair to say, however, we’re about to find out a lot more about him in the coming days.
