Rangers kicked off their pre-season schedule in Portugal on Saturday, with a fixture against Mansfield Town.
Encouragingly, Gerrard’s men walked away with a 2-0 victory over the EFL League Two outfit.

Held at the Algarve training base the club has used for the past week, it was a relatively informal game, split into three 30-minute periods.
The two intervals gave Steven Gerrard plenty of opportunities to rotate and every member of the touring party got minutes.
For two players, though, the outing was particularly successful – Sheyi Ojo and Greg Docherty.
The former only signed for Rangers last week, but is already off the mark in a Light Blue shirt. His close-range finish in the first period of the game ensured the Gers were always in control.
Docherty had to wait until the third and final period to be introduced. He made his minutes count though, by netting from distance after some sustained Rangers pressure. Fed the ball on the edge of the D by Ross McCrorie, he dropped the shoulder, beating two defenders before firing hard and low into the bottom right corner.

The 22-year-old has clearly improved at the top end of the pitch since heading out on loan at the beginning of last season. That’s evidenced by an impressive ten goals during his stint with Shrewsbury Town.
When the Rangers Twitter account posted a clip of this latest goal, plenty of Gers were impressed and called for Docherty to be given an opportunity during the upcoming campaign.
