Rangers fans fume over “delayed VAR” as latest Gers player cited by SFA

Rangers striker Kemar Roofe has been cited by the SFA in the latest comedy showing from the game’s authorities.

Whilst the tackle was almost certainly a bad one even Callum Davidson admitted there was no “malice” as the SFA retrospective team pop their head above the parapet for the third time in a week.

The entire thing is getting beyond a joke as matches are being re-refereed, completely defying the purpose of the entire disciplinary process in the first place.

A frustrated Steven Gerrard told the press of Roofe’s citation ahead of the club’s clash with Hamilton this weekend and revealed the club are mulling over an appeal.

“The notice of complaint came through ten minutes ago, which is quite frustrating because we’ve had two sessions to prepare for Hamilton and he’s been heavily involved in both sessions,” said Gerrard [Clyde].

“In time, we will have a think about what we want to do as a club.

“In terms of the tackle, I haven’t really thought too much of it because I thought the referee dealt with it – he was five yards away.

“He’s obviously seen the incident and gave a yellow card. Only ten or 15 minutes ago we’ve had this decision thrust upon us so we’ve got until Monday at the end of play to decide what to do.

“We’ll take our time and decide what to do from there.”

Rangers fans are naturally disappointed and took to Twitter to give their two cents on the decision with other similar incidents failing to be cited:

The entire Compliance Officer and retrospective disciplinary panel carrynonsense has collapsed into a full-blown farce and the SFA only have themselves to blame as both Rangers and Celtic fans fume.

Is it time to reconsider the disciplinary process in Scotland and get something which actually works for all the clubs?
