Dubious Rangers fans have raised eyebrows over claims that Rangers have completed the signing of Amiens midfielder Bongani Zungu.

Fourth Official is an online Twitter account who believe that the South African is now a Rangers player even if the club have not yet announced the deal.

The report comes after media in France claimed that Rangers were set to resurrect a deal for the player after he failed a medical in August [L’Equipe].

Ordinarily, you’d expect fans to be excited at the news they could be about to sign a new player but after a high-profile error by the same publication last week they’re raising their eyebrows.

Fourth Official – an account with almost 75k followers and one which prides itself on live transfers – had previously claimed that Everton midfielder Mo Besic was having a medical for Rangers.

This claim was eventually rubbished by Rangers boss Steven Gerrard with reports claiming that if Besic was having a medical it was “news to him”.

This could’ve easily just been a mistake or bad information given to the publication but it’s naturally got some Rangers fans dubious about their claims regarding Zungu.

The news comes after journalist Joe Crann – who broke the news of Rangers’ interest back in July – claimed the Ibrox side were back in the hunt for the 27-year-old midfielder.

According to a report written by Crann in the Scotsman, Rangers were battling a number of Spanish clubs and Greek giants Olympiakos for Zungu’s signature.

The L’Equipe report believes that Turkish Super Lig side Malatyaspor are also interested.
