Rangers fans demand major change after another poor refereeing display

Rangers were arguably denied all three points by two poor refereeing decisions in the 1-1 draw against Dundee Utd on Sunday, as Bobby Madden had an absolute shocker, with fans demanding the introduction of VAR.

The whistler denied Rangers two clear penalties following a handball from Ross Graham in the first half and then Fashion Sakala had his shirt pulled during a glorious goalscoring opportunity. These went unnoticed by Madden, as well as poor challenges from Charlie Mulgrew and Ryan Jack which should have been red card offences.

The standards in this country are ridiculous and with every passing error, the clamour for the introduction of VAR gets louder.

Rangers fans react on Twitter following the match to voice their agreement on introducing VAR

Following the match, plenty of Rangers fans took to Twitter to voice their displeasure at the performance of Madden and his assistants as they got major decisions wrong which could have major implications in the title race.

Here is a selection of reactions below.

With VAR being utilised in various leagues around Europe, including Denmark, Poland, and Croatia, then there is absolutely no reason why it cannot be introduced into Scottish football.

Of course, this is highly unlikely to happen with Neil Doncaster still in charge of the game, considering he struggles to market our game to a reasonable level then major change will be some way off.

The Scottish game will continue to remain in this rut until something major occurs, whether that is with the introduction of VAR, full-time referees or even bringing in officials at a higher level from other countries.

Human error is unavoidable, that is part and parcel of the game, and everyone makes mistakes, absolutely no doubt about that. Yet major incidents are going uncalled and the performance by Madden on Sunday highlights this.

Hopefully, change can be brought in sooner rather than later, although I’m not holding my breath.

Meanwhile, Joe Aribo has expressed his frustrations from the result at Tannadice but stated it was an important point in the title race.
