Rangers fans delighted with kind Scottish Cup fourth round draw

Bears have expressed their delight at a kind Scottish Cup fourth round draw, after Rangers were given a home tie against fourth-tier opposition.

The Gers have struggled in domestic cup competitions in recent times, with a League Cup semi-final defeat at the hands of Hibernian earlier this month their latest failure.

Therefore, they now know they have to triumph in the Scottish Cup if their decade-long wait for a major cup win is to end this season.

Although it took place late on Monday night at around 9.45pm, new manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his players were no doubt keeping an eye on the draw.

The Gers received some welcome good fortune, too, as they will start their campaign with a home tie against Stirling Albion.

The Binos are currently third in League Two and have progressed to this stage of the competition courtesy of wins over two non-SPFL sides: Berwick Rangers and Tranent Juniors.

The tie, which is due to be played on the weekend of 22 January, should give GvB an opportunity to give minutes to fringe players while also easing key first-team stars back in following the winter break.

Plenty of fans were delighted with the draw and some even suggested that it would be a good time to give some B-team stars their maiden taste of first-team action.

Here’s a selection of reactions from Twitter:

A Rangers player currently out on loan could be available for the Stirling Albion clash, with the Gers clearly considering recalling him in the winter window.
