The date and time has been set for Rangers’ Scottish Cup quarter-final with St. Johnstone – and Ibrox supporters aplenty have taken to Twitter to complain.

The Gers booked safe passage to the last eight of the national cup competition courtesy of a 2-0 victory over Celtic at Ibrox with Steven Davis scoring an overhead kick and Jonjoe Kenny netting an own goal after great work by Joe Aribo.

As a result, the Gers have earned a home tie against Callum Davidson’s team in the next round which will be played on Sunday 25th April at the late kick off time of 6:30pm.

And it’s the late Premier Sports kick-off time which has frustrated supporters who also had to wait to see their side play Cove Rangers in the third round of the competition.

That game kicked off at 6:30pm on a Sunday evening with the Gers also kicking off against Celtic at 3pm on a Sunday afternoon in the last round.

It’s a source of frustration for supporters looking to enjoy the game with the unorthodox kick off times a sign of the times in global football and made easier by the continuing fan lock-out amid the global pandemic.

Rangers fans took to Twitter to express their frustrations over the decision even if the club can look forward to yet another cup tie at Ibrox Stadium:

Late kick off time or not, whilst some may complain the Rangers fans will be looking forward to another competitive game against the Saints with two matches lined up against the Perthshire club this week.

The Gers’ 2-0 win over Celtic had the Ibrox side adding insult to injury beyond the final whistle with a string of digs aimed at our hapless rivals.
