Rangers fans call out tabloid error as paper makes Celtic Champions claim

Rangers’ 55th title victory certainly hit plenty hard and if one Daily Record article is anything to go by, there are still some out there who’re in denial about Celtic being dethroned as Champions.

The Gers were rampant in the season which mattered more to our rivals than any other, going the domestic league campaign unbeaten and winning the title by a gigantic 25 points.

Yet as the Daily Record previewed the Parkhead club’s transfer window Celtic’s status as runners up and Rangers’ as Champions appears to have evaded the writer.

In this story regarding Celtic’s “transfer state of play” the newspaper published the following comment regarding Croat defender Mario Vuskovic.

“The 19-year-old is highly regarded and has been extensively scouted by Serie A side Torino as well as the Premiership champions”

The line has since been amended to say “Premiership side” but it didn’t miss a handful of Rangers fans who took to Twitter to laugh off the error:

Somewhere between a Freudian slip and simple mistake, we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt; after all, for these guys the notion of Rangers ever lifting another title again was impossible.

For years we had to read about Rangers being miles behind Celtic before the Ibrox club put an end to those 10IAR dreams in emphatic fashion.

Rangers certainly have a fractured relationship with the newspaper and here’s a clip of two leading Record journalists lambasting Dave King back in 2018.
