After Cedric Itten got a harsh lesson in Scottish refereeing against Kilmarnock last week, fellow Rangers new boy Kemar Roofe got his induction against Hamilton.
Swiss forward Itten was remarkably booked for a tangle inside the Kilmarnock box which appeared not to be his doing as referee Kevin Clancy drew the ire of frustrated Gers fans.

And it was the Rangers support again who leaped to the defence of striker Roofe after Collum turned down a clear penalty shout from the English striker.
As Roofe closed in towards the back post Hamilton captain Scott McMann – later sent off for a second yellow – shoved the ex-Anderlecht man in the back and sent him flying in the box.
Referee Willie Collum wasn’t having it though, appearing to suggest that Roofe had actually shoved McMann first.
It’s got Rangers fans raising their eyebrows as once again the standard of Scottish refereeing comes in for scrutiny.
It was a decision made even worse by the one and only Andy Walker immediately jumping to the defence of Collum on Sky Sports’ coverage of the match.

It’s easy to point to the fact that Rangers won the game 2-0 but this is clear evidence of the rules of the game once again not being applied correctly in a match involving the Gers.
The standard must be much higher and there is absolutely no issue with Rangers supporters calling this out regardless of the result, because if it continues there is going to be a situation where a decision like this does cost the club.
