Rangers’ Twitter account has posted a throwback to one of the best goals in the club’s recent past.
On this day in 2016, Barrie McKay scored with a superb long-range effort against Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final.
The two sides were level at full-time at Hampden that day. Kenny Miller’s opener was cancelled out by Erik Sviatchenko and the tie went to extra-time.

However, only six minutes into that additional period, McKay enjoyed his finest moment in a Rangers shirt.
After shimmying away from Scott Brown, he created space on the edge of the box. Then, he unleashed the purest of strikes which flew past Craig Gordon and into the top corner.

Another Celtic equaliser courtesy of Tom Rogic subsequently brought the tie to penalties.
It was to be Rangers’ day in the end, though, as the same player missed his penalty to secure the win.
That day was a big landmark in the club’s return from the dark days. Therefore, for its quality and significance, McKay’s strike will live long in the memories of many Bears.

However, the talented Scot would leave the club the following year. He joined Nottingham Forest for a deal reportedly worth around £500,000 [BBC Sport] and has since moved on to Swansea City.
After seeing the throwback footage on the Rangers Twitter account today, though, some Bears are calling for his return.
