Aberdeen defender Andrew Considine has shocked Rangers fans by claiming the highlight of his career was pipping Rangers to second place on the final day.
The centre-back was speaking as he approaches 500 games for the Dons and claims the highlight of his time at Pittodrie came in 2018 as Aberdeen beat Celtic 1-0 on the final day of the season to finish second in the Scottish Premiership.
More than just mention the second-place finish, Considine points out that it was scoring the goal to pip Rangers to the spot which made it extra special.
In fairness to the defender, he did score the winner to secure the points for our northeastern rivals.
But considering Considine won a League Cup with Aberdeen in 2014 and was part of the side which qualified for the UEFA Cup in 2007, it seems a peculiar choice.
However, the Dons retain a fierce rivalry with Rangers which undoubtedly means more to our friends in the northeast than what it does to bluenoses in Glasgow.
Whilst it’s always nice to put Aberdeen in their place, their fans retain an unhealthy distaste towards Rangers which often clouds their own ambition as a football club.
Comments such as Considine’s, which suggest beating Rangers to a second-place finish is a career-defining highlight, pretty much sums up the tragic approach of Aberdeen to the rivalry between the two.

It’s hard to tell what’s more tragic.
Considine’s comment that in over 500 games for Aberdeen the best thing he’s ever achieved is scoring a goal to beat Rangers to second place.
Or the Aberdeen fans on the BBC Tweet desperately trying to claim Considine is fishing for replies from Rangers fans.
