Former Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty will always remain synonymous with life at Ibrox even if he has just signed with his 13th club in Kilmarnock.

The Northern Irish striker spent five years at Ibrox across two spells and whilst the first was certainly better than the second, Rangers will always remain a special place to the Ulsterman.

Tossed into the Killie side ahead of their upcoming trip to Ibrox, Laff lavished this Rangers side with praise regarding the title race and described them as worthy Champions.

But in doing so Lafferty also took a dig at Old Firm rivals Celtic as he took the opportunity to claim the Parkhead side have “crumbled” in their hunt for 10IAR.

“I am not shocked how well they [Rangers] have done. When I was there you could see that they were a team that was going to go on to great things and this season has showed it,” said Lafferty [Scottish Sun].

“They have been exceptional and they will be champions at the end of this season.

“But what has probably made it even more exciting is how Celtic have crumbled.

“They have actually crumbled to be honest and I think it is an added bonus for Rangers and their fans that they are so far in front.

“It shows that they are the best team in Scotland.”

The comments have certainly riled out rivals but Rangers fans have applauded Lafferty for praising the club and digging Celtic in equal measure.

Here’s how Gers fans reacted to the comments on Twitter as the Ibrox side prepare for the visit of Kilmarnock:

Lafferty, 33, joins Kilmarnock until the end of the season and could be in-line to make his debut at Ibrox this afternoon.

And before anyone gives the big man jip for goading Celtic, we seem to remember one of their players goading the striker when Northern Ireland where defeated in a Euro 2020 playoff in November.
