The Banter Years era at Celtic probably started with Ferencvaros and the laughs keep coming as Rangers fans eagerly await the appointment of their rivals’ new manager.

Primed to be Yokohama F. Marinos manager Ange Postecoglou, Celtic have gone full Pedro Caixinha as they look to halt Stevie G’s rampant charge to 56.

But prior to leaving Japan and Oceania behind, ex-Australia boss Postecoglou held back to play an Emperor’s Cup match against a fourth division amateur side with hilarious consequences.

J-League outfit Marinos were humbled by Honda FC – a side three tiers below them – crashing out of the tournament on penalties after a 1-1 draw in what should prove to be Postecoglou’s last game.

To add another layer to the banter of this, the opposition goalkeeper scored a penalty to put Honda in front in the game.

If the appointment hasn’t already been scrutinised with a fine-tooth comb, this result has sent Twitter into overdrive with Rangers fans buckled and Celtic supporters chewing their fingernails.
