Supporters have responded after Rangers tweeted an ‘iconic’ photo taken in the Ibrox dressing room of Steven Gerrard and Jermain Defoe with the Premiership trophy.
Gerrard and Defoe go back a long way, with the two turning out for England together for a number of years.

It was the bond formed on international duty that helped the now Gers manager to lure the veteran striker to Ibrox in January 2019 and it’s a move that has worked out well for all involved.
Around the time he signed what was an initial 18-month loan deal from Bournemouth, Defoe tweeted a photo in which he’s celebrating an England goal alongside Gerrard. He captioned it: “Let’s bring that trophy home boss”.
Fast-forward two and a half years and that’s exactly what they’ve done.
The Rangers media team pounced on the content opportunity not long after Saturday’s presentation, quote tweeting Defoe’s 2019 post with a photo of the pair holding the silverware in the dressing room. It was captioned with a house (home) and a trophy emoji.
Rangers fans went wild for the tweet, which at the time of writing had already racked up over 10k likes.
Here’s a selection of reactions from Bears:
Defoe hasn’t been a regular in the team this season and his future remains uncertain, with his current deal up in the summer.
However, he produced a brilliant finish to score Rangers’ fourth against the Dons on Saturday.
The 38-year-old now has 32 goals in 72 Gers appearances, despite many of his outings coming from the bench, and he’s been a superb ambassador for the club ever since his arrival.
Therefore, it’s no wonder that fans are delighted to see him fulfil his ambition and soak up the glory alongside his friend and manager.
In other news, Josh Windass and Jordan Jones posted emotional tweets on trophy day, while a loanee returned to Ibrox for the celebrations.
