Rangers fans have waxed lyrical about Steven Gerrard after his classy comments on Walter Smith emerged ahead of Trophy Day [Evening Express].
The Gers take on Aberdeen at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon in their final Premiership fixture of the season, after which the long-awaited trophy presentation will take place.

Rangers captain James Tavernier has already admitted his excitement and his manager is also looking forward to getting his hands on the prize.
Unfortunately, esteemed former boss Smith won’t be present, but Gerrard has sent his best wishes and vowed that the 73-year-old’s absence on the day won’t stop him from getting a snap alongside his Ibrox mentor and the trophy.
“I’ve gone on record many times about how special he is, not just as a manager but as a man,” said the Gers boss [Evening Express]. “Unfortunately, he’s been unwell of late and it’s a shame. I would have liked to have had him in the stadium on Saturday and have shared a photograph with him but that time will come.”
“It will be a special moment for me because Walter has really gone out of his way. So the very least I can do is to share that moment with him.
“Sadly, it won’t be this weekend but I’ll make it my business to make sure that I have a picture with Walter, myself and that cup.”

It almost defies belief how well Gerrard has taken to life at Rangers and he’s once again blown away supporters with his words here.
He’s hugely respectful of the history of the club and of those who played a big part in it, while a significant personal relationship has also clearly developed with Walter.
When that photo is finally taken and shared, it might just break Twitter.
