Rangers fans are all saying the same thing about what Philippe Clement did

Rangers got a lot of things wrong at the weekend with Philippe Clement also coming under fire from some elements of the support.

The Gers boss set up with an attacking lineup, however, when he didn’t make changes at half-time, there were a few questions asked.

After making changes for the trip to face Dundee, there was another reaction from Rangers fans before and after the game, this time about the selection of one individual in particular.

Kemar Roofe Gers Rangers fans talking

In Kemar Roofe’s first two seasons he played over 35 games Rangers.

This seems a lot but then you remember that Joe Aribo played over 65 in one season with us, including international football.

For those two seasons, Roofe had an impressive strike rate scoring over 35 goals, but he just hasn’t been able to keep fit for the last two campaigns.

Dumped from the squad for the Old Firm derby, Philippe Clement has given Kemar Roofe a reprieve after picking him to start for Rangers against Dundee.

The gaffer explained why Roofe, and Raskin, were both ommitted:

“That depends of positions, how the opponent is, how we are, the form they show in training and I didn’t have anything to say about that it’s not that they are not performing or not doing their best, there’s a lot of competition.

This is Rangers and this is what we want also. To have competition for spot and that everybody needs to fight for their spot (except Tav and Goldson) to be in the team or to be on the bench.”

Rangers fans reacted as expected after the sight of seeing Roofe’s name in the starting XI.

What does the future hold for Keane Roofe?

Clement will need his head checked if he is considering offering the 31-year old striker a new contract.

As for Roofe, having missed so much football, he will want to prove that he still has it, although dreams of an extended Ibrox stay might be wishful thinking.

“I don’t know. You’d need to ask the gaffer and people that are in control of the contracts. Of course. I really like playing in this squad and under the gaffer.

“It’s frustrating if you’re not playing. You want to play. If you’re injured or not injured, you want to play and it’s going to be frustrating. But it’s just about having the right mentality. You support the team, train properly and do your best when you come on the pitch.”

Rangers fans need a hero over the next month or so, but it looks like Roofe isn’t going to be the one we need either after a shocker at Dens Park.
