Rangers answered their Scottish Premiership critics with a thumping 6-0 victory over Kilmarnock at Ibrox.

The Gers have threatened to start finding their groove in Scottish football and would’ve been disappointed to only go in 1-0 in front at half-time at Ibrox.

But a sensational second half performance gave way to a memorable 6-0 victory which saw goals from all three strikers as Danilo, Hamza Igamane and a Dessers double helped Rangers to an impressive victory.

There were plenty of positives on the night for Rangers, who sent a message to their Scottish Premiership rivals as Philippe Clement feels the benefit of increased forward options.

But on a night to remember for Rangers fans, the performance of club captain and opening goalscorer James Tavernier stood out to supporters.

James Tavernier shines for Rangers

On an impressive night for Rangers, James Tavernier stood out as one of the side’s top performers.

The Ibrox captain has found himself out of the side as of late, with Tavernier claiming that he still has what it takes to shine for Rangers.

And against Kilmarnock the Rangers captain rolled back the years, with the right-back finding himself at the back post to slot home from a deep Ianis Hagi cross.

It’s a moment which sends a signal to Rangers and manager Philippe Clement that James Tavernier isn’t quite done yet.

The Rangers captain’s performance also wasn’t lost on Rangers supporters, who’ve taken to social media in praise of the Ibrox skipper.

Rangers fans hail Ibrox captain

One Rangers fan claims that Tavernier has ‘emotionally recovered’ from being dropped at Ibrox with the stunning performance v Kilmarnock.

Another echoed that opinion by claiming that the rest has ‘fixed’ James Tavernier, who was not performing in the first part of the season.

One support summed up fan consensus by smarting that we’ve seen the ‘Tav of old’ in the 6-0 rout.

And whilst Rangers fans are singing the praises of all their team this evening, one supporter has a special rendition of an old classic with James Tavernier front and centre.

The strike v Kilmarnock is James Tavernier’s first goal of the Scottish Premiership season for Rangers and suggests the Ibrox skipper can still be a key player for the club.
